You'll need

• ·Flour, yeast, sugar, salt & warm water
• ·Sharp cheddar, shredded (be generous)
• ·Fresh or pickled jalapeños, chopped
• ·A little butter for the top

Make it

1. 1.Mix the warm water, sugar and yeast and let it get foamy.
2. 2.Add flour and salt and knead until the dough is smooth and springy.
3. 3.Fold in the cheddar and jalapeños, then let it rise until doubled.
4. 4.Shape into a loaf, rise again, and bake at 375°F until deep golden and hollow-sounding.
5. 5.Brush with butter and let it cool a bit before slicing (if you can).

You'll need

• ·Butter, sugar & brown sugar
• ·Pumpkin purée and one egg
• ·Flour, baking soda, salt
• ·Cinnamon, nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice
• ·Chocolate chips

Make it

1. 1.Cream the butter and sugars, then mix in the pumpkin, egg and vanilla.
2. 2.Stir the dry ingredients together and fold them in — don't overmix.
3. 3.Add the chocolate chips.
4. 4.Scoop onto a lined sheet and bake at 350°F until the edges are set and the tops look puffy.
5. 5.Let them rest on the pan a few minutes so they finish setting.

You'll need

• ·A simple vanilla or yellow cake, baked in a 9x13
• ·Evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk & heavy cream
• ·Fresh strawberries and bananas, sliced
• ·Whipped cream for the top

Make it

1. 1.Bake the cake and let it cool, then poke it all over with a fork.
2. 2.Whisk the three milks together and pour slowly over the whole cake.
3. 3.Cover and refrigerate a few hours (overnight is better) so it soaks all the way through.
4. 4.Top with whipped cream, then the strawberries and bananas right before serving.
